- Located 45 minutes away by ferry
- A true island paradise with deserted beaches and spectacular scenery
- Trinity Beach
- Voted the best beach in Cairns
- Located between two headlands, which create a nice bay with a palm-fringed sandy shore
- Palm Cove Beach
- One of the more popular beaches in the area
- Lined with hotels, restaurants, and shops
- Lots of activities available, including
- Fishing
- Watersports
- Kayaking tours
- Horseback riding
- Reef tours
- Fitzroy Island
Santa Barbara, California
- Approximately 1-1.5 hours north of Los Angeles
- Average high temperature of 75 degrees Fahrenheit
- Best beaches:
- Butterfly Beach
- One of the only west facing beaches, which means it is a great place to watch the sunset
- Bring a blanket and a bottle of wine and enjoy the late afternoon
- El Capitan Beach
- Large sandy beach with plenty of space and privacy
- Not very crowded during the off-months
- Leadbetter Beach
- One of the most popular beaches in the area
- Long strip of sandy beach with grass behind for picnics
- Mild waves make this a great spot for beginning surfers and windsurfers
- Butterfly Beach
- Consider spending a day wine tasting in the Santa Ynez Valley – not as famous as Napa, but some great wineries in the area
